Excellent letter. Thank you for writing it.

So good. I wonder: Are such plans for a trial ever aborted? What does it take?

What a respectful, detailed, uncompromised letter. I feel entirely grateful for Stella's virtuous push again and again for the need to distinguish truth from falsehood and caring from harming. For the well-being of all of us, we simply must align ourselves with wisdom, goodness, truth, and right actions to the best of our abilities.

Stella: This trial is unethical in principle and unsafe in practice.

Amen to that. A rather monstrous premise, a rather big Big Lie at the heart of it, that one can change the sex of some "gender non-conforming" children.

Stella: To accept the validity of such a trial is to accept the existence of the transgender child. .... Many people view extremely gender nonconforming children as a transgender child. (I once was one of those children.)

Seems rather contradictory at best. You yourself accept the view -- a fairly common and well-justified one -- that the "transgender child" is simply an "extremely gender non-conforming one" without that obliging you to "accept the validity of such a trial". For evidence of that view, see:

"According to the prevailing dogma promoted by trans/gender scholar-activists and enshrined in the official documents of important institutions, transgender individuals are individuals whose “gender” or “gender identity” doesn’t match their sex, ..."

The problem isn't in being "gender non-conforming" -- in exhibiting behavioural traits not typical of one's sex -- but in the rather demented, quack-science view that such individuals can "change their sex" -- a medical and biological impossibility -- by mangling their genitalia into some ersatz and non-functional replicas of those of the other sex. Though that has been something of a common and popular misperception going back 75 years or more to the "sex change operations" of Christine Jorgensen and his tribe:

I guess "adults" are entitled to delude themselves that way, though not if it is to mislead or defraud other people.

But to trick children into believing that Big Lie? The crime and medical scandal of the century.

A perfectly framed appeal. Let us hope the moral compass of Dr. Cass attunes. Thank you, Stella.
