What leads someone to transition: innocent curiosity, a deep ache, an escape from pain, a dream of being someone else? Each new step along the way, hormones, then surgery, promises belonging, wholeness, but pulls them down a path with no easy way back. The reasons are as varied as the secrets of the heart, every story has its own unique thread.

Genspect is proud to present one such tale—this animated film follows Forrest, a young man stumbling from confusion and regret toward meaning and acceptance. We hope that stories like these will help to shine a light on reality of detransitioners’ lives, deepen understanding and inspire others to help them access the support they need.
