We're excited to present Volume 4 of the Genspect American College Survey, continuing our journey through the United States with new evaluations and findings. As always, we deeply appreciate the feedback from our community, which has been instrumental in shaping this project. Your input helps us ensure the survey remains relevant and useful to parents and families of gender-distressed youth, so please continue to share your thoughts through our Feedback Form, or leave a comment below!
Improving our Research
As we move forward, we’re actively planning a Second Edition of this project to incorporate an expanded rating system. Based on your suggestions, we’re exploring a five-tier scale, ranging from "Negative" to "Strong," to provide a more nuanced understanding of each college's approach to transgender activism and support. This will give families a clearer picture of the varying levels of influence these issues have at different institutions. As such, we’ve begun in this volume to note some colleges as “low” in the notes section, which will help shape our next edition.
Additionally, readers may have noticed, notably within Volume 4, that some of our notes on colleges have become more detailed, at times bordering on too long for the simple spreadsheet format we've been using thus far. With this in mind, we're exploring new ways to better organize and present our findings in future editions, without sacrificing any detail or clarity. Our goal is to ensure that the information remains easy to navigate, while still offering the depth that families need.
Volume 4: Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Washington
These ten states within Volume 4 present diverse educational landscapes, and we’ve worked hard to provide comprehensive evaluations for each 4-year institution. As with previous volumes, we continue to assess colleges based on their engagement with a range of transgender issues, such as the availability of “gender-affirming” health care, campus clubs, the existence of gender-related student policies, and the presence of activist-driven environments.
Looking Ahead
We'll be back next week with the final installment in this series, Volume 5, which will include all remaining states as well as Washington, DC. We plan to wrap up our evaluations, and offer further reflections on our findings so far. Stay tuned!
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. We look forward to hearing your thoughts on Volume 4, available to download directly below, along with the previous three volumes. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Thanks again! My second is applying as we speak. And, did I miss Kansas?
