Hello, everyone,
Check out the latest video from the Bigger Picture Conference.
Bob Withers discusses the importance of addressing gender dysphoria through a psychological lens, exploring how societal pressures, family dynamics, and unresolved trauma can lead to feelings of disconnection from one’s body and identity. Drawing on his work with detransitioners, he highlights the critical role of therapy in understanding and resolving these issues before pursuing irreversible medical changes. He also examines the value and limitations of "lived experience," urging a careful, thoughtful approach to supporting those struggling with gender-related distress.
Bob Withers is a Jungian psychoanalyst with over 35 years of clinical experience. He co-founded The Rock Clinic in Brighton in 1990 and serves as a training analyst with the Society of Analytical Psychology.
