Belgium is a nice country to live in, with decent education, good healthcare, and reliable media. At least, that’s how it seemed until our daughter began to come out as a boy. Nothing remained of our familiar world.
The first crack came after our daughter registered at a gender clinic. You would expect thorough research from a university hospital, but nothing could be further from the truth. With disbelief and indignation, we watched as our child was unilaterally confirmed in a gender identity and guided toward medical transition. Our story—the story of the parents—did not matter, was not listened to, and was not important at all.
Since our daughter was of age, a court case was not an option. It felt so unfair; as parents, we could not protect our child from medical harm. We put our hope in writing to politicians. But here, too, we ran into walls. Across party lines, there was remarkable unanimity. If we did get an answer, it was along the lines of: “The explosion of trans people is a clear consequence of providing better transgender care. In terms of transgender care, Flanders is a guiding country for the rest of the world. Scientific foundation and professionalism are central in Flanders. Transgender care always starts with an in-depth psychological analysis.”
Pushing Back
We understood that we could not succeed alone. To join forces, we founded the Belgian parents’ group “Cry for Recognition.” This name reflects a basic desire: the desire to be recognized. Because we believe that this lack of recognition forms the basis of the irrational desire to be someone else. While healing is only achieved by learning to accept oneself, by regaining self-confidence in one’s own dignity.
Through the media, we hoped to highlight gender issues. But here, too, the disappointment was great. Twice we tried to publish a guest post in the mainstream press, without success. Gender criticism did not fit within their narrative. Only then did we realize how little opposition there is in the Belgian media and how selective the coverage is. Gender-critical voices do not fit into their ideological discourse. Even the publication of the Cass report received hardly any attention in Belgium—as a neighboring country to the United Kingdom.
We had not noticed how our environment had changed. Everyone seemed to embrace gender belief—from the education system to the man in the street. Even among our closest friends and family, we experienced incomprehension.
It is a medical scandal, to which the media and politics have contributed significantly. There is unforgivable cowardice. There’s no excuse; they know what’s happening. Nevertheless, they continue to one-sidedly highlight the victimhood of LGBTQI+ people. In this way, they wash their hands in innocence.
Harnessing the Power of Film
Sophie Robert, a French filmmaker, tries to shed light on this scandal. With a three-part documentary, Mauvais Genre1 (Wrong Gender), she explores all facets of the gender issue. She bases herself on evidence-based research, shows the brutal reality, and reveals the social and societal consequences.

What gives us hope is a growing group of people with unyielding willpower who stand up to the monster of gender ideology, the Leviathan. Sophie Robert is one of those people. We were lucky enough to organize a film event with her around Mauvais Genre’s second documentary: Un Scandale Sanitaire (A Health Scandal)2. In this documentary, fascinating images of natural beauty alternate with horrifying images of medical intervention (gender-affirming care), mutilating the human body and alienating it from itself. The loss of contact with reality, the dissociation, the separation from one’s own nature—this is the answer the film offers us to this horror.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD IN THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION
The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the future EU LGBTIQ strategy. The decision to hold a consultation is good news; it was done before in 2024, but the report was already written. However, with a change of commissioner and increasing public pressure on gender issues, it seems that the Directorate-General for Justice wants to gauge public opinion once again... (perhaps they want an excuse to drop the most controversial elements - such as self-ID and the ban on conversion therapy).
We cannot leave this to rainbow NGOs alone. So, make a request, and share it as widely as possible! The consultation runs until 24 June 2025.
Mauvais Genre includes the films: 1. Une épidémie mondiale (A global epidemic), 2. Un scandale sanitaire (A health scandal), 3. Les loups dans la bergerie (Wolves in the sheepfold)
You can find the film 'Un scandale sanitaire' on Dragon Blue TV's YouTube channel. This film has English and Dutch subtitles.

Just like the lobotomy, the opioid crisis, false memory, and other medical scandals gender ideology and how it has targeted children and vulnerable adults will go down as the biggest medical scandal of all time. It's not a matter of if but a matter of when. Sadly it will have many victims many of our children. Eventually the voices of those victimized by this horrible ideology will be too loud to ignore. But those who have profited from this industry which is now a billion dollar industry won't care because they will have made their money. We need lawsuits and lots of them.
This could have been written in Canada. It is the same for parents here. I feel your pain. We need a change in govt to have any chance of changing this insanity here.
