Detrans Awareness Day 2025 is taking place at a pivotal moment. Incoming President, Donald Trump has vowed to outlaw child transition — but that is just the beginning.

The United States is often referred to as the "wild west" of gender medicalization for good reason. Gender transition has become big business. Over the past 20 years the number of clinics offering medical transition as a treatment for gender dysphoria has exploded with virtually no oversight. Even respected children’s hospitals have got in on the act of pediatric sex change despite the lack of evidence for its safety and efficacy. A growing cohort of Americans live with the devastating consequences every day. Unfortunately, we know from experience that those profiting from gender medicine won’t give up easily.

Since its inception in 2021, Detrans Awareness Day has played a crucial role in raising international awareness about detransition. Detrans Awareness Day 2025 on Capitol Hill has the potential to significantly alter the landscape of gender medicine. This is why Genspect aims to platform the people lawmakers from across the political spectrum need to hear from most of all: detransitioners. Stopping pediatric transition is only the beginning.
