I find this statement of particular interest: “The psychological dynamic of the totalitarian state is very different to that of the classic dictatorship, which rules by fear. In the totalitarian state, a portion of the population is in the grip of dedication to false information, to the extent that they will denounce friends and family and feel proud to do so.” So ironic that liberals are unaware of their susceptibility to the same phenomenon that they criticize on the right and how they tried to pin the label of authoritarianism and proto-totalitarianism on a Trumpified Republican party without recognizing our own version of it
Thank you for this great article. It is so true that "..... gender identity ideology goes far beyond the body of the individual who wishes to present to the outside world in this way or that way, ..." I was drawn into this realm out of care and concern for the children whose bodies were being irreversibly damaged but I'm seeing the ideology creep into areas that originally had no connection to gender identity. Just in the last few days, the divisiveness has begun to tear apart a great organization. Three great leaders have felt it necessary to resign from the Honorary Board of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) because the administrators have begun to censor the articles in their online magazine, Freethought Now. They removed an article written by Dr. Jerry Coyne, a well known evolutionary biologist, because it "distressed" some of their trans staff. It's as if the gender identity ideology is tearing society apart. So incredibly sad.
There's a saying 'never give a sword to a man who can't dance', meaning that if a person can't see a situation from multiple perspectives, it's likely that person isn't really secure in the perspective he/she is presuming to embrace. Maybe a more accurate assessment of whether someone is ready to take irreversible steps is to explore the response to jests and absurdities about the proposed measure. Maybe ask how one feels about the latest toy offering: a transgender Mr/Ms Potato kit = a box of parts more specific than the usual eyes, ears, nose etc.
The key line is "This has become a battleground for our very reality; the thoughts we are allowed to think and the words we are allowed to speak."
I have no child involved in this delusional psychotic cult. But we must not live by lies. There is fundamental truth.
